Dons were undone by a Sheffield United side that claimed their third SkyBet League One win on the bounce.

Mark Duffy superbly opened United's scoring before captain Billy Sharp doubled their lead five minutes later with a typical striker's header.

But AFC hit back to halve the deficit before half time courtesy of Dominic Poleon's smart finish.

Matt Done then added a third for the visitors in the second period before Tom Elliott's goal 20 minutes from time ensured a tense finish.

Dons started the better and had the game's first-half chance after a slip from Sheffield defender Ethan Ebanks-Landell allowed Tyrone Barnett to head Jake Reeves cross just past the post.

Chris Wilder's side then showed their class after midfielder Duffy beat his man then maintained his composure from six yards to slot home.

A smart dummy selling both the Dons keeper and the last defender leaving him an empty goal to score the opener. Captain Sharp then slotted a well-placed header past Ryan Clarke after a clever run across his marker to convert Done's cross from the left.

Goal: Dominic Poleon

Neal Ardley's men managed to pick themselves up and pulled one back before half-time.

Good work and brilliant persistence down the left from Andy Barcham allowed Poleon to stoop down and expertly steer a low header into the corner.

Early in the second half the Blades should have scored a third after a clever back heel from Sharp put Done in the clear, but he couldn't even hit the target.

He then missed another glaring chance after rounding Clarke, but put the ball wide.

Done did eventually get his goal after a brilliant through ball from John Fleck allowed the Blades forward to once again round the Dons keeper.

This time finish into an empty net to all but kill off any chance the home side had of taking anything from the game.

Substitute Elliott pulled goal back following a clever free-kick routine.

Dean Parrett chipped the ball to the back post where an unmarked Elliott was a thankful recipient and couldn't miss from six yards.

Despite the return of last season's leading marksman Lyle Taylor the Dons could not find the all-important equaliser.
