Brentford is a special club as anyone who has visited Griffin Park would attest.

But what separates Bees fans from supporters of other clubs? GetWestLondon asked the supporters to complete the sentence: You know you're a Brentford fan if...

You have provided a host of different replies, some of them similar to others and a few that only those of a certain generation would remember.

Here, GetWestLondon takes a look at 19 things that only a Brentford fan would know well.

1. You have been stung by a Bee

Maybe it's not a real bee but every fan has been stung with the effects lasting a lifetime.

2. You walked to Griffin Park via the A4 exit ramp

Given Griffin Park's location relative to the motorway, some fans used to walk down the ramp from before the elevated section to head towards the ground.

3. You've diced with the traffic at the Great West Road roundabout

If you've ever walked down the South Ealing Road, you may well have put your life in your hands as you cross the roundabout at the Great West Road.

4. You remember the Royal Oak

Many Brentford fans, who went to Griffin Park in the 60s, 70s and early 80s still mourn the day the old Royal Oak stand was torn down and replaced with the Brook Road stand, now known as the Wendy House.

The Royal Oak pub closed in 2015.

5. You've suffered play-off misery

Brentford have entered the play-offs on eight occasions and have never had the glorious day out at Wembley. Tranmere, Huddersfield, Crewe, Stoke, Sheffield Wednesday, Swansea, Yeovil and Middlesbrough have ended their promotion dream. Maybe next time?

Familiar feeling: Play-off misery

6. It's Brentford innit

No matter how well Brentford are playing you always expect something to go wrong for the Bees. Finishing second in the only season where the champions won automatic promotion. Eight play-off defeats after your chairman helps bring them into existance. Marcello Trotta hitting the crossbar from that penalty. Brentford fans are, understandably, pessimistic at times.

7. You hate QPR and Fulham

An obvious one really.

8. You watched Stan Bowles in red and white stripes

Stan was a favourite at both Brentford and QPR with Bees fans raising money for him earlier in May.

9. You remember Chomp bars and cheese

One for the older fans. Beesotted explain the significance of Chomp bars and cheese in detail.

10. You would honour the Sam Saunders song

If you know, you know.

11. You've drunk in all four pubs

Pub talk: Supporters outside Griffin Park

Prior to the Royal Oak's closure, supporters used to go around each of the pubs to have a drink either before or after the game.

12. You're in the bar before half time

Given that Brentford, up until 2015, had a pub on each corner it's no surprise that some Bees enjoy the taste of alcohol and, as such, are in the bars at half-time.

13. You still hate Paul McShane

Younger fans may not appreciate this one but McShane's challenge on Alex Rhodes pretty much ended the promising Bee's career, due to a cruciate ligament injury.

14. You have a hatred towards Luke Hyam

Similar to Paul McShane. Hyam was the man who broke Alan Judge's leg last year.

Apologetic: Luke Hyam

15. You dream about Jota, Sergi Canos and Lasse Vibe

And you're in the team alongside them.

16. You can only think about your favourite player for so long before expecting them to leave

Given Brentford's stature it's no surprise to see popular players depart for pastures new.

17. You hate penalties

Marcello Trotta against Doncaster in 2013. Enough said.

18. You're still nervous even when the game appears won

Maybe it's the crushing disappointment that comes with play-off defeats and going so close to promotion on many occasions before achieving it in 2014 but Bees fans never relax until the final whistle is blown.

19. You go to far flung places in midweek

Brentford takes up a certain part of fans' lives. It doesn't matter whether the game is at QPR or Carlisle and when it is. If you're a fan, you want to be there.
