DIVISION ONE SOUTH AND WEST Burnham 1 AFC Hayes 1

Trevor Charlery's fifth league goal of the season earned AFC Hayes a 1-1 draw from an entertaining clash with Burnham.

Hayes had trailed to a Jamie Spence goal since the first half when in the 61st minute Charlery cut in from the left and fired a perfect shot into the far corner that gave Sam Southerden no chance.

Both sides had further chances to score in the remaining half hour but neither could accept any.

Gilbert Nuako was guilty of giving away possession early in the game and Ben Hudell dragged one attempt wide of James Harry's goal, before Spence was in the right place at a corner to finish off when Rob Paris knocked the ball down.

Victor Osobu and James Duncan had chances for Hayes although the best fell to Dean Papali, who seemed to go clear only to be thwarted by the last defender.

The second half began with Ross Ahir seeing a good shot saved by Southerden but the keeper was left helpless by Charlery's strike as the left-sided player levelled the scores.

Burnham had opportunities to score again but so did Hayes, man of the match Jamie Duncan forcing Southerden to punch clear while Dean Clark and Osobu broke through but lobbed wide.

Nuako ended up in hospital after receiving a blow to the head. HAYES: Harry, Bartlett, James, Nuako (Clerkin 86), Duncan, Ahir, Pereira, Clark, Papali (Valentino 88), Osobu, Charlery. Subs not used: Wadge, Harwood, McManus.
