AFC HAYES boosted their Zamaretto League survival hopes last night with a double blast from on-loan striker Jake Lovell securing a 3-1 victory over Andover.

Lovell struck after 14 minutes to put Hayes 1-0 up and though Ben Chambers levelled 10 minutes into the second-half, Hayes & Yeading striker Lovell notched again 20 minutes from time and a Craig Tomkins penalty sealed it near the end.

Hayes face their second game in a gruelling schedule of four matches in eight days when they host Bedfont Green tomorrow night and assistant boss Dale Welch admits they are eyeing up two strikers to take the pressure off regular pairing Lovell and Danilson Vicente.

“We are trying to make one or two more signings to bolster the attack,” Welch admitted. “We need to take the pressure of our front pair as they have been playing all the time. We are going to have enough players during the next few weeks, but it is whether or not we can field a strong enough side for each game. We will need to rotate players a bit, but I think that we can cope with it.

“We have given ourselves a chance of staying up with our recent results and we have to keep that momentum up now.”
