AFC Hayes 1 Royston Town 3

AFC Hayes bowed out of the FA Cup with a disappointing performance against lower league opposition.

Royston, who play in the Spartan South Midlands League Division One, went ahead on 15 minutes as Ryan Lockett scored when he followed up after AFC keeper Jimmy Armand had saved a Craig Hammonds shot.

However, two minutes later AFC were back in the match when a mistake in the Royston defence allowed Victor Osubu to score.

That proved to be the home side's only joy as Royston took control of the match.

Luke Robins raced through the AFC defence to slot the ball into the bottom corner to restore Royston's lead.

And they then added a third goal before the break when Hammond scored from close range after bering set up by Lockett.

There was now no way back for Joe Mitchell's side and the second half failed to produce any further goals.
