Harrow St Mary’s 215-7

Enfield 142-8

Winning draw for Harrow St Mary’s

HARROW St Mary’s first league meeting with Division Three new-boys Enfield ended in a winning draw for the Saints.

Relegated from Division Two last season, Enfield won the toss and elected to bowl first on a decent playing surface.

Sam Blennerhassett and Harmeet Singh opened the batting, with Blennerhassett’s first to fall in the fifth over with the score on 24. Robbie Van Der Ross (pictured) kept the score ticking over until he was unnecessarily run out, Singh soon following after hitting 30.

Lakmal Kasthuri (39) and Aalok Soni (unbeaten on 55) steadied the ship and push the score to a defendable 215-7 in the maximum 55 overs.

Enfield got off to a flying start with the bat, scoring 19 off their first three overs but thanks to Haran Dharmaraja’s bowling, two wickets then fell with the score on 37.

It was then down to the replacement spin attack of Van Der Ross and Kasthuri to restrict Enfield who were aiming for 175 in their allotted 45 overs to claim the winning draw.

Kasthuri claimed the third and fourth wickets, then a throw from the covers by Tom Pettet to dad Gary saw the fifth wicket down.

With seven overs left, Enfield needed 49 for the winning draw, however Kasthuri claimed two more wickets and Van Der Ross bagged the eighth as Enfield ran out of time.

The result keeps HSM at the top of the table, along with Uxbridge and Barnes.

Elsewhere, HSM’S second string were in lethal form as they put MTSCC to the sword on Saturday.

And the thirds were also victorious as they saw off Edmonton.
