MIDDLESEX CHAMPIONSHIP DIVISION THREE

Peshwa 63 all out

West Harrow 64-4

West Harrow won by six wickets

WEST Harrow engineered a six-wicket triumph over Peshwa on Saturday, despite a lengthy rain delay.

Peshwa never looked at the races and the only thing that put the final result in doubt was the weather as West Harrow battled the elements to taste victory.

Opening bowlers Imran Muhammed (5-31) and Ashish Parmar (3-11) spearheaded the West Harrow attack as Peshwa were shot out for a paltry 63 in 29 overs. Then, after heavy rain and a patient wait for the pitch to dry out, West Harrow started their reply.

Once again in-form batsman Runesh Gudhka led the way as he hit 37 not out, including some sublime cover drives, as West Harrow moved to victory in 15 overs.

West Harrow’s record now stands at played five and won three. Next week they travel to Old Isleworthians.

Meanwhile, West Harrow thirds made it four wins out of five on Saturday when they trounced Wembley fifths by 151 runs.

Batting first, West Harrow scored 194 all out in 42 overs. Captain and opener Akash Patel top scored with 52 and young wicketkeeper Chivan Patel racked up 47.

In reply, Wembley were reduced to 43 all out in 21 overs, with new ball bowler Malisha Kannangara bagging a five wicket-haul.

West Harrow’s Sunday Development XI picked up one point for a losing draw at home to London Tigers.

Tigers won the toss and put West Harrow into bat on a damp wicket. Krishan Patel (45), Humayun Wassim (30), Jash Gandhi (26), Sawan Shah (24) and Kunj Vadgama (23) all helped set a 187 target.

In reply, Tigers had 37 overs to reach that figure, finishing short on 172-7. The pick of the bowlers for West Harrow were teenage spin twins Syan Patel (3-60) and Abhi Patel (2-36).
