MIDDLESEX V SUSSEX DAY TWO

Middlesex: Yet to bat

Sussex: Yet to bat

The weather was the only winner again as Middlesex’s County Championship clash with Sussex at Old Merchant Taylors School reached the halfway stage without a ball bowled.

Following the wash out on day one, heavy early morning rain in Northwood left the outfield saturated and despite the best efforts of the ground-staff to mount a mopping up operation umpires Steve Garratt and David Milns abandoned play for the day following a 1pm inspection.

With more bad weather currently predicted for day three and the forecast for Thursday far from settled the league leaders face the prospect of their first ever County Championship fixture at the boys’ secondary school could fail to see a ball bowled in anger.

All concerned will try again tomorrow at 11am.
