A valiant Russell Henley display proved fruitless as Old Merchant Taylors’ were defeated by Chesham seconds in Thames Valley Cricket League Division Two A.
Henley took 8-66 in the first innings to help dismiss Chesham for 171, although hopes of a second league win for the visitors’ swiftly fell away after failing to keep out an onslaught from the Bucks side’s bowling attack, and only managing 110 in response.
OMT seconds also fell to a defeat as they hosted Burnham fourths in Thames Valley Cricket League Division Six A, despite a rapid attack from John Walter who claimed 42 from as many deliveries.
Meanwhile, Uxbridge fell to defeat at Brentham, losing by six wickets to fall into sixth place in Middlesex County Cricket Divison Two.
After recording 261-7 in the first innings, their hosts chased down their tally for the loss of only four wickets.
Uxbridge seconds moved to fourth place in Division Two after a six wicket win against Hampstead.
Elsewhere, Northwood claimed a five-wicket victory over Old Owens.
After reducing their opponents to 210-7, the visitors chased down the score with relative ease thanks to a half-century by Vishnal Vakhani.
Northwood Seconds lost by 39 runs, however, being bowled out for 183 to Clifton.
Northwood Town fell to a five-wicket defeat at home against Cheshunt, finishing on 213-7 before the visitors recorded 214-5.
Harefield suffered a seven-wicket defeat to Tring Park at home, despite Simon Macey recording 110 runs. The hosts scored 214-9 but were chased down with the loss of only three wickets.
