MIDDLESEX COUNTY LEAGUE DIVISION TWO

Uxbridge 118 all out

Brentham 119-5

Uxbridge lost by five wickets

ONLY four Uxbridge batsmen made it to double figures as they slumped to defeat against Brentham.

Uxbridge knocked up just 118 in 50 overs and left Brentham with the easy task of chasing down the total for the loss of five wickets on Saturday.

It looked an even match on paper, with nothing much to separate the two sides, but what followed was a leisurely stroll to victory for the visitors.

Brentham won the toss and decided to bowl.

And what a wise decision that was as Andre Jason suffered the humiliation of going for a duck in a sign of things to come.

Number two Malkeet Dhaliwal notched 17 to show some signs of improvement, but nobody in an Uxbridge shirt looked like doing any serious damage.

Tony Stephens made the biggest mark with the bat and reached 24 in a disappointing innings.

Brentham were never going to struggle to beat 118.

And despite a couple of early wobbles from their openers, Joe Brandreth (38) and an unbeaten 49 from Matthew Lowen guided the away side towards the win.

Meanwhile, Ickenham, who sit one place below Uxbridge in the relegation zone, boosted their chances of survival with a 38-run win over Harrow Town.

Eastcote remain rock bottom of the Premier Division, despite a dazzling performance that saw them pick up the full 10 points with victory over Hornsey by just one wicket.
