UXBRIDGE are celebrating promotion to Division Two after an emphatic victory on Saturday.

Fellow opener Malkeet Dhaliwal fell for just 10, but the second-wicket partnership added plenty to the score, Tony Stephens putting up 60 runs of his own, including nine boundaries.

Two Barnes players were dismissed for ducks as the visitors strolled to an easy win.

The IIs were also playing Barnes and faced a similar situation, needing a win and other results to go their way for promotion.

Monty Jivraj led the way with 3-48 as Barnes were restricted to 219-8 in 55 overs, before opener Mike Stafford’s solid 83 meant Uxbridge needed just 35 overs to reach 223 for the loss of only three wickets.

The IIIs made it a clean sweep, finishing the season with an emphatic 247-run win over Shepherd’s Bush.

They made a league record 435-9 in 50 overs before declaring, led by opener Leo Fernandes’ remarkable 171 and 87 from Simret Mangat. Junaid Khan then took 4-25 as Uxbridge bowled their opponents out for 181.

In Division Two, Mike Olsen and Rob Berti both scored half-centuries as Ickenham signed off with a nail-biting one-wicket win over North Middlesex.
