MIDDLESEX PREMIER CRICKET LEAGUE DIVISION 3

Friends United 110 all out

Youth Wing 113-7

Youth Wing won by three wickets

FRIENDS United’s hopes of climbing out of Division Three were dented by a ruthless Youth Wing side at the weekend.

Youth Wing ran out winners to leave Friends needing to win all of their remaining fixtures to be in with a chance of promotion.

Having lost the toss, United were put in to bat first. They made a horrendous start at the crease, losing in-form opener Nirmal Ramgi to the first delivery of the match.

Piyush Vanraj and Ramesh Magan tried to build a partnership but Vanraj lost his wicket on 14 when he tried to smash a delivery out of the park.

Youth Wing then took out Vijay and Sejil Ramniclal in quick succession to leave Friends United struggling at 40-4.

Ramesh Magan and Vivek Rameshchandra (21) then built a good little partnership, but the fall of Magan (45) triggered a collapse.

Friends United were soon bowled out for 110, with Wing’s Neil Patel taking 4-10 as he cleaned up with the ball.

In reply, United went into all-out attack mode, which appeared to be working when they reduced Wing to 20-4.

However, some excellent defensive batting by Shravan Patel (22) and a late cameo by Neil Patel (17) allowed Wing to sneak home.
