SARACENS HERTFORDSHIRE CRICKET LEAGUE DIVISION FOUR
Northwood Town 264 all out
West Herts IIs 276-8
Northwood Town lost by 12 runs
RAJ Ahluwalia was unlucky to be on the losing side as Northwood Town were beaten by West Herts’ second string.
Ahluwalia smashed 88 runs but his efforts counted for nothing as the visiting side claimed a narrow victory.
Akshay Loomba got things under way for the hosts with the bat and rattled off 17 runs before falling leg before.
Number two Kyle Lawrence had his innings halted after just six balls, and was sent back to the clubhouse after being well bowled with only two runs to his name.
Sangeet Patel added 19 more, but it was Ahluwalia, coming in fourth, who made the biggest impression.
Michael Lister (32), Mikhil Patel (29) and Nishil Mapara (22) all chipped in with some useful runs to help set a target of 264 for West Herts.
And chase it they did, with an opening partnership of 86 runs getting the ball rolling and building the momentum that would eventually propel them to victory.
Lister followed up his respectable spell at the crease with bowling figures of 4-28, but it was not enough as West Herts romped home with two wickets to spare.
Northwood slumped to a six-wicket loss to Kings Langley in Division Two despite Stuart Reeve hitting a terrific 71 for the away side.
And in Home Counties Premier League Division Two (West), Harefield were four-wicket winners over Farnham Royal.
