MIDDLESEX COUNTY CRICKET LEAGUE DIVISION TWO
Shepherds Bush 215-8
Harrow Town 220-5
Harrow Town won by five wickets
HARROW Town sprung a surprise by picking up their second win of the season against Division Two table-toppers Shepherds Bush.
An inspired bowling display from Kamlesh Desai (4-57) and knocks from Asim Mohamed (82) and Abid Javed (82 not out) secured victory against the leaders.
Shepherds Bush won the toss and elected to bat – a decision which appeared vindicated when the side reached a healthy 122-1.
But a great spell from Desai, which included three run outs, turned the game on its head as Bush’s batsmen could not capitalise on a promising start.
Sam Dishon (71) looked dangerous before his rapid run scoring was brought to a halt by Desai.
Run-machine Aaron Johnson (four) was cleaned bowled by Josh Thomas (1-49) and Dan Davis (31) appeared destined to make a significant total before he was caught by Mohamed Nawfer off the bowling of Desai.
The hosts managed to scramble to 215-8 off 43 overs after rain had affected the innings.
After the early dismissals of Gihan Herath (two) and Vish Jadunath (eight), Town’s middle order had to stablise the innings.
But at 47-4 and it looked like Town’s batting would collapse once again. However, with rain only around the corner, Mohamed and Javed put on 137 for the fifth wicket in less than 20 overs as they smashed Bush’s bowlers all around the ground.
Shepherds Bush had no answer as their big hitting proved to be too much and Town won the game by five wickets in the 32nd over.
Meanwhile, Milan Zhang Mei made 75 runs as Harow Town Ladies beat Wanstead by five wickets.
Harrow bowler Iqraa Hussain struck three times and Remy Yu Miao and Nehal Dave bagged two wickets apiece.
