Harrow Town 139 all out

Southgate 140-5

Harrow Town lost by five wickets

LACKLUSTRE Harrow Town remain embroiled in a relegation battle after a five-wicket loss to Southgate on Saturday.

Town remain in the drop zone and will sink further into trouble if they fail to beat bottom-of-the-table Ickenham this weekend.

Poor batting displays have cost the strugglers in recent weeks, with that trend continuing against promotion-chasing Southgate.

Only Muhammad Arshad (49) and Kamlesh Desai (40) managed to show any character as the rest of the order failed to spark and Harrow Town were all out for 139.

Southgate chased down the target with the loss of five wickets, with Desai (3-44) the pick of the bowlers.

Elsewhere, Harrow Town seconds slid to a shock defeat against SKLP.

SKLP batted first and managed to rack up 254-5 in 50 overs.

Town were gunned down for 135, leaving them eight points behind the league leaders in the Middlesex Championship.

There was better news for Harrow Town thirds as they beat rivals Kenton.

Kenton scored 215 all out in 50 overs. New boy Prashant Patel smashed 108 as Town reached the target in 32 overs with the loss of only three wickets.

Elsewhere in Division Two, Harrow had to settle for a losing draw against a strong Shepherd’s Bush side who are continuing a late push for promotion.

It was the same story for Wembley at home to Indian Gymkhana in Division Three.

Table-topping Kenton continued their march towards the title with a five-wicket triumph over Barnes.
