Steve Gould got his and Bedfont 62's season off to a flier with a five wicket haul for 18 runs as they beat Ham & Petersham III by 40 runs on Sunday. Gould earlier led the scoring, notching 21, while James Sutton hit 20 as Bedfont made 132.

Nick Beard then loosened up the visiting attack with 2-35 with some fine flight and swing at the Airport End, before Gould took over to bowl Ham out for 92.

Gould was in fine form again the following day with equally good bowling figures of 3-16 as Bedfont drew with Ruislip Victoria. Nick Beard also claimed another 2-27, while Geoff Caulder chipped in with 3-33 as the visitors were bowled out for 126. Peter Fitzpatrick (18) and Craig Elvin (42) got Bedfont off to a solid start in reply, putting on 65 for the opening wicket.

But the innings crawled to 98-6 before fading light saw the game fizzle out into a draw.
