MIDDLESEX PREMIER CRICKET LEAGUE DIVISION THREE

Friends United 210-9

Shivam 102 all out

Friends United won by 109 runs

A SUPERB partnership between in-form stars Jalpesh Vijay and Ramesh Magan was the cornerstone of a brilliant win for Friends United on Sunday.

The duo put on 80 runs and Magan took 4-16 in eight overs with the ball to fire his side to a 109-run victory over Shivam.

Friends United skipper Yogesh Nagpal won the toss and decided to bat first.

The opening pair of Piyush Vanraj and Nirmal Ramgi started the match cautiously for the first two overs before Vanraj started to open up, taking the score to 33 in six overs.

But the batsman pushed his luck when going for a third run in the next over and was run out by a great throw from Shivam’s star player, Dilesh Narotam.

Magan came to the crease and, along with Nirmal, kept the scoreboard ticking until the latter was hit on the shoulder by a throw from midwicket as he tried to take a run and retired.

Vijay entered the fray and the pair proved explosive with the bat.

The score looked like exceeding 250 before Vijay lost his wicket to Dilesh Narotam and Ramesh soon followed, with the runs slowly drying up and United ending on 210-9.

Shivam’s innings got off to a bad start as Dinesh Carsane bowled a superb first over and took a quick wicket.

But it was all about star man Magan who showed he has a great all round game, notching four wickets to cap off a fine day.

Vivek Rameshchandra took two wickets in two overs to finish things off, leaving United two points off the leaders in Division Three.
