Finchley win by eight wickets
STANMORE’S lacklustre display at Finchley on Saturday crushed the euphoria of the team’s stunning victory over Ealing seven days earlier.
The playing surface was damp and a delay may have unsettled the players but there was no getting away from it – this was a very disappointing showing from Stanmore.
At 72-2 Stanmore seemed comfortable and looked set for a healthy target. Steve Mehra (16) Navin Samarakoon (27) and Tim Percival (22) were largely responsible for that score, but when all three perished the side collapsed, losing eight wickets for just 11 runs.
The hosts were safely home with eight wickets in hand to punish the Stanmore players, who will look to bounce back with another positive result against Ealing this weekend.
