Northwood Town drew with Preston
NORTHWOOD TOWN played out a draw with Preston in a spirited game at Chestnut Avenue. Batting first, Phil Costard (25) started well for Town and Johanes Van Ee carved out an important 43.
However, at 95-5 Town's resistance - which has broken down in recent weeks - was tested again.
Michael Lister stepped up to the challenge with a stylish 38 and he was supported by Dave Bushnell (16) as the pair put on 37.
Kazim Naqvi finished the innings well with an unbeaten 22 as Town were dismissed for a defendable 181.
Town's bowlers had performed well in recent weeks, and were finally confident of getting 30 points on the board.
However, despite good contributions from Dave Bushnell (2-46) and Johanes Van Ee (3-46), the much-needed wickets were hard to come by.
Young spinner Veer Vadagama (2-35) brought the real bright spot in the game as he snared two early wickets and had a loud lbw shout for a hat-trick turned down.
But Preston decided to see out the rest of the game and finished on 171-7.
Elsewhere, Town's second string were given a brutal lesson by high-flying Harpenden.
After being dismissed for 183, a lone Jack Daly wicket was all they had to show as the hosts eased home with nine wickets to spare.
