UXBRIDGE can look forward to another bumper summer of top class cricket after Park Road was given a huge thumbs up by Middlesex County Cricket Club.

The club has hosted Middlesex for three games already with a second, four-day County Championship match starting today (Wednesday), against Warwickshire.

Durham bring the curtain down on a total of five matches and a planned 13 days of top quality cricket action when they visit for a Pro40 one-day clash on Sunday and Middlesex secretary/chief executive Vinny Codrington fully expects the county to return again next summer.

"I think it's gone extremely well," he said. "I think the people of Uxbridge have made us incredibly welcome and everybody has thor-oughly enjoyed being back there.

"Uxbridge has been great and everybody there has been terrific for us.

"You're always going to get some people disappointed because they live over Southgate way but similarly there are people who live near Uxbridge who were cheesed off when we went to Southgate.

"We need to find out what the fixture scheduling is and it's going to be complicated with the addition of the

Twenty20 World Cup, so I suspect we'll be playing at both Southgate and Uxbridge next year."

Park Road used to have a regular festival week until 10 years ago but since then Middlesex have looked elsewhere when Lord's was unavailable, with Southgate preferred until last season.

They were back with a vengeance this summer with a whole host of games in different competitions and fans even got the added bonus of seeing tourists South Africa before they began their Test series with England.

The ground has played its part in the emergence of two young players in particular, with Eoin Morgan, 21, and 20-year-old Dawid Malan starring in the Twenty20 Cup match with Kent.

Malan then made an unbeaten 132 on his first class debut against Northamptonshire, with Morgan striking 93 in the second innings while wicket-keeper Ben Scott made a career-high 164 not out.

Morgan will always remember Park Road with great affection after he too compiled his maiden first class century there, striking a brilliant 109 not out against South Africa off just 118 deliveries. ..
