MIDDLESEX PREMIER CRICKET LEAGUE DIVISION THREE

Friends United

Shivam

Match abandoned

FRIENDS United’s final game of the season with Shivam was abandoned due to rain – but both teams were smiling as they clinched promotion to Division Two

The stage was set for this final-day top-of-the-table showdown but Mother Nature had not read the script and put an end to play after just 40 minutes.

Shivam needed five points to claim the title and United needed nine for promotion, both getting what they needed as both sides shared nine points.

It brings the curtain down on a terrific season for Friends as they finished just shy of top spot but will be more than pleased with their final standing.

Jalpesh Vijay was the club’s top batsman this season and ended the campaign with 427 runs.

Captain Yogesh Nagpal was top Friends bowler with 17 wickets in the league as he led by example with the ball.

And Ramesh Magan was top all-rounder with 289 runs and 11 wickets, but the promotion run has been a team effort and United can look forward to testing themselves at a higher level next term.
