MIDDLESEX CHAMPIONSHIP DIVISION TWO
Pinner 183 all out
Alexandra Park 184-3
Pinner lost by seven wickets
IT WAS always going to be a big ask for Pinner to take anything from their meeting with Division Two leaders Alexandra Park – and so it proved on Saturday.
Pinner are without a league win in their first eight games of the league campaign and there was to be no shock at the weekend as they slumped to a seven-wicket defeat.
The winless hosts lost the toss and batted first for the seventh time in eight matches this season.
Pinner got off to a decent start, putting 48 on for the first wicket in no time, and were handily placed at 70-2.
However, as seems to happen each weekend, a collapse ensued and 70-2 soon became 112-8 before a partnership of 49 between Kam Mistry (42) and Zia Rehman (36) added some respectability to the score.
Having finished all out on 183, Pinner again needed early wickets.
Unfortunately for the home side, these were not forthcoming and had they grabbed a couple at 103-3, things might have swung in their favour.
Asif Khan (2-51) was the only wicket taker – the other coming from a terrific run out by Niro Rajadurai – and Pinner were beaten by seven wickets.
Meanwhile, Pinner seconds won the toss but lost the match against Kay Plus in North Acton. Kay amassed 254 and Pinner never recovered after losing two early wickets in reply and were all out for 57.
