Pinner won by three wickets
ABDUL Majeed starred with bat and ball as Pinner finally got their first win of the season on Saturday.
Spinner Majeed took 7-55 before smashing an unbeaten 40 as the Division Two basement boys beat Swamibapa.
It has taken Pinner 11 weeks to pick up their first win and they remain rock bottom of the table but gave themselves a huge boost with this three-wicket win.
Captain Kam Mistry lost the toss and Pinner were asked to bowl first.
Fourteen-year-old bowler Krissie Mistry opened up with Mehfooz Khan, the youngster taking an early wicket to get things started for Pinner.
The opposition settled a bit by putting on 45 before Krissie Mistry got another wicket.
Inspirational captaincy then put Majeed in with the ball and, with his crafty spin, proceeded to rip through the Swamibapa batting. At 62-2 the wheels began to fall off and that quickly become 135-9, before a last-wicket partnership of 44 gave the scorecard respectability.
Majeed finished with his incredible figures from only 14 overs.
In reply, Pinner had plenty of time to knock off the required runs in what should have been a routine chase.
This being Pinner though, the top four all got starts of 20s without going on the make the real big numbers and three quick wickets to left Pinner at 121-5.
That put the game in the balance before the hero with the ball became hero with the bat too, as Majeed, in conjunction with Krissie Mistry, knocked off the winnings runs, finishing on 40 not out to get Pinner over the line.
On Sunday, Pinner lost out by 58 runs at home to Bushey. where Krissie Mistry (28) Lorcan Moore (29) were unlucky to be on the losing side.
