SARACENS HERTFORDSHIRE LEAGUE DIVISION TWO
Northwood lost by two wickets
SIMON Noach’s sensational unbeaten knock of 130 was not enough to prevent Northwood slipping to defeat against Northchurch on Saturday.
Noach rattled off the runs with some big hitting, including 15 fours and fives sixes, but his team-mates failed to produce the same fireworks and Northwood fell just short.
Danny Rodgers opened the batting for the hosts and kept the scoreboard ticking over on his way to notching 37, but Paul Foster (one) and Stuart Reeve (four) both fell early.
This allowed Noach to step into the crease and he certainly did not disappoint, producing one of the best innings the club has seen for some time.
Northwood finished up 235-5, giving Northchurch plenty of work to do.
But they approached their innings with confidence and The Woods virtually threw away the win in the first 10 overs as the visitors stormed to 70. The Northchurch number three provided the basis for the triumph and helped his side get home with 10 overs to spare and eight wickets down.
Meanwhile, Northwood Town beat St Albans seconds by 95 runs in Division Four.
Michael Lister hit a splendid 73 not out, while Richard Doling and Dominic Whyley took three wickets apiece.
Harefield drew with Cove in the Home Counties Premier Division Two. Daniel Evans and Akshay Reddy both claimed four wickets.
