Overseas star Punnet Mehra starred with both bat and ball as Indian Gymkhana stormed to the top of Middlesex County Cricket League Division Two on Saturday.

Following promotion from Division There last summer, Gymkhana are finding life in the second tier a breeze, with two wins and two abandonments from four games.

Uxbridge were their latest victims, the hosts being bowled out for 107, thanks to Mehra's 5-26, which included seven maidens, and Bupinder Singh's 4-29, including eight maidens.

In reply, things looked rocky when Gymkhana lost four of their top five cheaply, including two ducks. But Mehra, who finished unbeaten on 53, and Dinesh Mahant, who was also unbeaten on 39, steadied the ship before seeing their side home at 111-4.

Over in the Thames Valley Cricket League, all-rounder Vikas Tokas was the hero with both bat and ball, scoring 59 and taking 8-35 as Chiswick & Latymer (132 all out) scraped past Bagshot (130 all out) by just two runs for a first win of the season in Division Two B.

There was a first win of the season for British Airways (152-5) in Division Two A, beating Finchampstead seconds (147 all out) by five wickets, thanks in no small part to Shazib Kiani's half century (56).
