MIDDLESEX COUNTY CRICKET LEAGUE - DIVISION TWO

Uxbridge CC 2nd XI 341-8

Highgate CC 2nd XI 182 All Out

Uxbridge win by 159 runs

BAL Mangat smashed a club record 193 as Uxbridge seconds triumphed over Highgate on Saturday.

Mangat grabbed the new record after a superb innings that saw him thump an incredible 21 fours and eight sixes to lead his side to victory.

Highgate had no hesitancy in bowling first and soon their decision seemed to be paying off as Uxbridge were reduced to 31-3 in 10 overs.

But Mangat came to the rescue with his stunning performance, assisted by Scott Doody who put his bad start to his Uxbridge batting career behind him by scoring an excellent 50.

Uxbridge declared after the departure of Bal setting Highgate an improbable 341 to win, or more realistically 51 overs to survive.

Highgate put up a fight but it was the introduction of Adam Warden that proved decisive as he took four wickets to secure the win.

Meanwhile, there was a winning draw for the firsts against Indian Gymkhana as Tony Stephens picked up the man of the match award.

Uxbridge thirds won at Ealing, while the fourths were beaten away at Birbeck College.

Hayes moved up to seventh in the Thames Valley Cricket League Division 3A after their draw with Maidenhead and Bray earned them 15 points.

Karenpreet Singh’s 138 for Hayes put a large score on the board for their opponents to chase.

When Maidenhead’s ninth wicket fell in the 46th over it seemed defeat would follow, however the final pairing held on to claim the draw.

Big wins for the Hillingdon Manor seconds and thirds and a gutsy draw for the fourths were offset by a disappointing defeat for the firsts.

Northwood lost out to arch rivals Watford Town at Ducks Hill Road but still picked up 15 points. The seconds drew at Hoddesdon and the thirds were beaten at West Herts.

And Northwood Town endured a miserable Saturday as they were defeated by Ampthill Town. The seconds and thirds lifted spirits by picking up wins.
