MIDDLESEX COUNTY CRICKET LEAGUE 3RD XI DIVISION THREE

Edmonton thirds 124

Kenton thirds 125-5

Kenton thirds won by five wickets

KENTON thirds ran out five-wicket winners in their Division Three clash with Edmonton at the weekend.

The Kenton players made short work of chasing down Edmonton’s 124 total on Saturday to claim their first win of the campaign.

Kenton won the toss and opted to put Edmonton in to bat first.

The wickets soon began to tumble as skipper Kunau Patel and Amar Vanu both claimed three wickets as Edmonton were dismissed for 124, Omar Zandani finishing with bowling figures of 2-33.

Kenton opened the batting with the father-son partnership of Mark Giffin and Joseph Castle-Giffin and the pair stood strong for the first few overs.

Bad bowling was dispatched for boundaries before two quick wickets were taken by Edmonton.

New batsman Tariq Khan stepped into the breach and it soon became clear that he had the ability to drive Kenton home.

Castle-Giffin was dismissed for 37, leaving Khan to win the game as the rest of the order played a supporting role for the star, who finished unbeaten on 45.

Kenton finished on 125-5 off 32 overs, securing 10 points to add to their tally.

Meanwhile, Kenton’s firsts also recorded a five-wicket win as they saw off Indian Gymkhana.

Gymkhana set a target of 184 in 54 overs and Kenton chased it down in a shade over 40 overs.
