Hillingdon boys will play Tower Hamlets at Lord's in the finals of the Balfour Beatty London Youth Games Cricket Cup after reaching the last eight of the competition.

The borough team came through ahead of Merton and Kingston at Harrow Leisure Centre in the indoor six-a-side event, which features children from year eight and under.

Thirty teams entered the competition and Hillingdon are now guaranteed a place in the top eight by reaching the finals, which take place on March 7.

Hillingdon captain Kieron Patel said: "As captain of Hillingdon, it's an honour to be going to Lord's.

"After we lost to Kingston, we did not think we'd qualify.

"We faced the impossible task of beating Merton and the net run rate to qualify was very high.

"However, we pulled it off and I'm very proud of the team." [25a0] The Youth Games are open to all Londoners aged seven to 17 and the finals of most events take place at Crystal Palace on July 4-5.
