MIDDLESEX COUNTY LEAGUE DIVISION TWO
Uxbridge 174 all out
Southgate 153 all out
Uxbridge won by 21 runs

DILON Heyliger inspired Uxbridge to a hard fought win against mid-table rivals Southgate at the Walker Cricket Ground.

Just one point separated the two sides ahead of Saturday's clash and there was little to separate between the two sides on Saturday as Uxbridge ran home the winners by just 21 runs.

After winning the toss and deciding to bat, Uxbridge struggled to break the shackles throughout their innings.

Opener Andre Jason managed his highest score of the season so far, accumulating 61 runs from 113 balls.

Heyliger, in his first season for Uxbridge, provided much needed impetus to the innings, scoring 46 off just 43 balls.

Late order runs from Sulaman Mughal (20) and captain John Hendrie Jr (15) allowed Uxbridge to post a competitive 174 all out, as five  wickets from Southgate's Ashley Sivarajah restricted them to a score below 200.

In response, only Southgate opener Chris Blake provided any true resistance, top scoring with 88 runs – the next top score was just 22.

At 137-4, Southgate looked as if they had victory in their sights, only for Heyliger to run out the danger man, Blake.

This sparked a dramatic collapse with Jonathan Tall (4-32) and Heyliger (2-48) combining, as the final six wickets fell for just 16 runs.

The result means that Uxbridge leapfrog Southgate and virtually put to bed any fears of relegation.

With just three games remaining of the season, Uxbridge have all but secured a mid-table finish, owing much to the brilliance of their Guyanese all-rounder, Dilon Heyliger.
