Tyrone Henderson is set to make a shock return to Middlesex colours.

The South African all-rounder, who served a stint at the home of cricket last season as cover for Chaminda Vaas, has answered an SOS from the injury-ravaged Seaxes and was due report to Lord's on Tuesday subject to ratification from the England & Wales Cricket Board.

Henderson's reappearance can't come a moment too soon for Toby Radford's side, with no sign of any imminent return to action for crocked trio Chris Silverwood (knee), Alan Richardson (Knee), and Dirk Nannes (foot).

Youngster Danny Evans returned a career best 6-35 in their absence in last week's championship defeat against Essex, but chief executive Vinnie Codrington maintained it was necessary to sign Henderson to protect Evans and fellow starlet Steven Finn from burnout.

"Such is the injury situation that are resources are threadbare," said Codrington.
