THAMES VALLEY LEAGUE DIVISION 3A

Hayes 205-9

Hurst 125 all out

Hayes won by 80 runs

HAYES kept the pressure on Division 3A leaders Stoke Green with another victory on Saturday.

An 80-run triumph over Hurst cemented Hayes’ second-placed position in the table and ensured the table-toppers are still within sight.

On a slow pitch against their Berkshire opponents, opener Karampreet Singh (52) scored a fine half century to see Hayes post 205-9 from their 52 overs at the weekend.

In reply, the visitors never really looked likely to trouble the score but worked hard to secure a draw.

Claudius Wayland (5-20) starred with the ball, ensuring Hurst were dismissed with just three overs remaining, allowing Hayes to take the maximum 25 points.

The result extends Hayes’ lead over third-placed Slough seconds to 15 points.

Elsewhere, evergreen veteran Keith Wallis scored an unbeaten 62 as league leaders Hayes seconds maintained their winning run with a six-wicket victory over Barnes Wild Geese.

Josh Mahoney (54) top scored for Hayes thirds before Tony Smith (5-26) starred with the ball in an emphatic 192-run victory over Hillingdon Manor thirds.

And Hayes fourths posted a score of 130 before they were beaten by four wickets against Ickenham fourths.

Meanwhile, Old Merchant Taylors’ scraped a draw against Teddington Town in Division 3B.
