Hayes Cricket Club last month officially opened their new members bar at The Green, Wood End.

MP for Hayes and Harlington and club patron John McDonnell did the honours at a special ceremony to mark the development, which involved creating a second bar to allow club members to use the facilities at the same time as private functions, as well as refurbishing the clubhouse and changing rooms.

David Brough, chairman of the Hillingdon Community Trust, which provided £30,000 of the money for which the club is eternally grateful, was also at the opening.

The remainder was raised by the club itself.

McDonnell said: "Hayes Cricket Club stands at the heart of our community and is a resource for the whole community.

"We are looking forward to a bright future."

Club captain Keith Wallis added: "The new bar shows our commitment to improving the club's facilities for all of our members and many more improvements are planned."

The club also recently launched its inaugural web site, www.hayescricketclub.co.uk.

Winter nets for colts begin on January 28 or February 8, depending on age - see the website for more information or call Wallis on 07710 096219.
