MIDDLESEX COUNTY LEAGUE DIVISION TWO

Harrow 172 all out

Ickenham 137-4

Losing draw for Harrow

HARROW could only manage to scrape a losing draw in their opening Middlesex County League Division Two clash with Ickenham.

The Payne’s Folly club lost the toss and began their 2013 campaign at the crease, getting off to a dismal start as Darius D’Souza and Sachin Patel were both dismissed without scoring.

Steve Gibson claimed opener D’Souza’s wicket with an excellent delivery and went on to bag four more in his nine overs.

Saad Mohammad Waqas stepped things up for Harrow with an unbeaten 74 to push the visitors to a 172 total, but it was a beatable score and Ickenham number one batsman Charith Gunasekara clearly meant business at the crease, smashing an excellent 65.

Tim Budd and Lance Hockley added another 34 for Ickenham before Mike Olsen entered the fray.

Olsen partnered David Gibson, who was soon caught by Pritesh Vaghela off the bowling of Ajay Patdiwala, and produced an unbeaten 17 with the bat.

Ananda Iyer put on the last four runs of Ickenham’s 137-4 final score in their 36 overs, leaving Harrow with a single point and work to do ahead of this weekend.

Meanwhile, fellow Division Two side Harrow Town were also forced to settle for a losing draw in their fixture with Brentham.

There was better news from Stanmore in Division One as they kicked off their season with a winning draw against Twickenham.

Darshan Malde took three wickets and Jake Whiteaker top scored for Stanmore.

Kenton, in Division Three, also claimed a winning draw in their opener with Edmonton.
