UNDER-STRENGTH Old Isleworthians & Heston bounced back from an opening day defeat to record a first win of the season on Saturday.

Beaten by Putney the previous week, the omens did not look good for acting captain Neil Mason and his side as they travelled to Redhill & Old Coulsdon without their regular

bowling quartet of Tony Parker, Rob Folley, Gary O'Connell and Greg Stothart.

However, with their replacements including debutant James Hirst (0-35) stepping into the breach, OI&H won comfortably by six wickets after a few pauses due to the weather.

Jamie Brunton (2-35) and Dipesh Patel (2-43) backed Mason's decision to bowl first on winning the toss in the AJ Sports Surrey League, Division One clash.

The fielders played their part with two run outs, wicket-keeper Halim Ali whipping off his glove to throw down the stumps in one spectacular dismissal, as the visitors were reduced to 186-6.

Ali (53) and Phil Mountford got the Isleworthians' reply off to a great start with a stand of 80.

Mountford (35) and Mason (25) pressed home the visitors' advantage, and Patel guided his side over the winning line at 187-4 with two overs to spare.
