DIVISION 4A: Wooburn Narkovians 234 all out lost to Hayes 236 for 8 by two wickets

Hayes avenged their early season defeat by visitors Wooburn, with a gutsy two wicket win at The Green on Saturday.

This win has now edged Hayes into third place in the table with a mouthwatering clash at home to new leaders OMT this Saturday.

Electing to bat, Wooburn openers Tennant and Rogers set off at a rate of knots with the Hayes attack unable to find a decent line and length on a flat track.

Having raced to 102 from the first 20 overs a large total loomed. But, the introduction of Rex Kumar and Tommy King stemmed the flow.

Kumar bowled Tennant for 73 with the score on 122, and the whole complexity of the match changed, as wickets began to tumble at regular intervals

Off spinner Micky Green picked up five victims, one a startling catch by Sean Morgan in the deep, and when Kumar bowled the last two Wooburn batsmen in two balls the visitors were dismissed for 234, with the last nine wickets falling for just 87 runs in the final 25 overs.

Green finished with 5 for 53 and Kumar 3 for 42.

Hayes lost makeshift opener Farooq with the score on 11, before the father and son combination of Simon and Micky Green tore the visitors attack apart.

Simon fell for 68 with the score on 103 in just the 15th over, but Micky continued his onslaught but at 163 for 2, and with plenty of overs in hand, it all went wrong

Green fell for a hard hit 72 and the normally reliable middle order failed to capitalise on the start as Hayes suddenly slumped to 210 for 8.

Sean Morgan was then joined by Mark Funnell batting down the order due to a thigh injury whilst fielding.

Funnell, batting in considerable pain and with the aid of a runner, had enough experience to nurse the younger Morgan through the test as the pair saw the hosts home without further loss.

The 2nd XI had an outstanding 25 point victory away at Boyne Hill, which now also puts them up to third place in the table

Hayes were 44 for 4 before their middle order rallied and Sharma (48), Jones (34) and Muyassur (61 not out), pushed the to 256 for 8.

In reply Boyne Hill never really combated the pace of Sharma who capped a fine match when picking up 4 for 20.

Supported by Max Jason (2-34) and Singh (2-13) the hosts were dismissed for just 131.

The Academy side went down to Hillingdon Manor by six wickets at Coney Green on Sunday.

Earlier on during the week a Hayes team led by Micky Green had left that ground claiming the six-a-side trophy during Hillingdon's cricket week, beating the Foot Soldiers in the final.
