MIDDLESEX starlet Adam Rossington enjoyed a stunning debut for the county’s second XI in victory over Northants this week.
The 16-year-old, who plays his club cricket for Eastcote, told the Gazette recently that he wanted to wanted to win a first-team spot by the end of 2011.
Well at Northampton’s County Ground Rossington showed he could talk the talk with a magnificent 161 as Middlesex won by eight runs.
There couldn’t have been more pressure on the youngster as he came in at 24-3, but he responded with three sixes and 24 fours in a stay of 196 balls and just over four hours., to steer Middlesex to 378-7.
And Rossington, who lists Chris Gayle and Ricky Ponting among his cricketing heroes, made more quick runs in the second innings, hitting 35 not out at more than a run a ball to set up the declaration.
In more good news for Middlesex, Danny Evans bagged three wickets in the Northants first innings, while new arrival over the winter Tom Smith spun his way to 4-70 second time around to clinch a tense win.
