MIDDLESEX COUNTY LEAGUE PREMIER DIVISION

Eastcote 267-7

Twickenham 122-5

Losing draw for Eastcote

EASTCOTE may have been relegated – but they put up a good fight against Twickenham on Saturday.

The basement boys, who had their fate confirmed last week, have struggled this season and been hampered further after being deducted 20 points in penalties over the course of the campaign.

Ten defeats in 15 matches have ultimately sent the club down to Division Two, although they showed battling spirit in their losing draw with Twickenham.

It was never going to be easy to take anything from a clash with a side that have won 61 more points than the bottom club this term.

But a magnificent unbeaten 102 from Nathan Rabnot was the highlight of a solid Eastcote innings, which also saw their Middlesex star Gurjit Sandhu (47 not out) and Arman Lotay (40) put in performances that belied their league position. Eastcote finished on 267-7 after 65 overs at the crease. It was a good score but left Eastcote with little time to sweep up the Twickenham wickets.

An excellent 77 not out from Carlos Nunes provided the backbone of the visitors’ response and guided them to 122-5 after it was all said and done inside 30 overs, seeing Twickenham claim the winning draw on run-rate.

Elsewhere, in Division Two. Ickenham secured a winning draw against Brentham and Uxbridge beat Southgate.
