MIDDLESEX COUNTY CRICKET LEAGUE PREMIER DIVISION
Eastcote 193 all out
Eastcote lost by six wickets
EASTCOTE are in deep trouble in the Middlesex County Premier Division.
With 10 games gone the winless side sit bottom of the league on -15 points following a hefty penalty deduction.
They were not expecting much joy against a Teddington team that occupy a top-three spot and are looking up towards leaders Hampstead.
But a six-wicket defeat here suggested the gulf in class between the two sides is perhaps bigger than it actually is as Eastcote made a decent fist of this one after Teddington won the toss and elected to bowl.
Will Van de Spar (43), Christopher James (37) and Adam Rossington (50) all put useful runs on the board for Eastcote but the lower order fell apart and they were dismissed for 193.
Teddington moved up a gear as they chased down the total.
Marshalled superbly by Nick Gubbins, who smashed an unbeaten 92 from 95 balls, the visitors had no trouble passing the 193 mark, doing so with six wickets to spare.
Ajay Sangha took two wickets for Eastcote and there was one each from Rossington and David Goodchild as Teddington produced a great performance at the crease.
Meanwhile, Division Two basement boys Ickenham remain without a victory this season after settling for a losing draw against fourth-placed Harrow.
And Uxbridge slipped to a 49-run loss at the hands of table-toppers North Middlesex on Saturday.
North Middlesex batted first and slowly but surely made their way to 217-7 in their allotted 50 overs.
Dilon Heyliger took 3-59 and John Somerville-Hendrie recorded figures of 2-61 with the ball for Uxbridge.
The excellent Heyliger then racked up 81 runs with the bat, including nine fours and four sixes, but it was not enough to prevent defeat against the leaders.
