Old Cholmelians 163 all out

Parkfield & Headstone 165-5

Parkfield & Headstone win by five wickets

PARKFIELD and Headstone produced a disciplined display to see off Old Cholmelians on Saturday.

PHCC won the toss and elected to field with Ian Schmid and Hemantha Warnpala opening the bowling on a wicket which offered both movement and swing.

Both were unlucky to get more wickets, although Schmid took 3-52 off his 14 overs in possession of the ball. Prashant Nagarajan and Dipak Shah kept up the tight bowling to see the opposition all out for 163, giving PHCC a beatable score to chase.

After tea, Jinesh Shah and Schmid opened the batting. Jinesh took a ball on the forearm but battled on and only succumbed after the pair had put on an opening partnership of 50.

It was a good start which Schmid and Andrew Ward built on with a partnership of 87 before Ward was trapped leg before on 27. With only 30 needed to win, wobbles from Wassem Saber and Raj Kanabar threatened to cost Parkfield the match.

A fantastic knock by Schmid was finally ended with an inside edge to the wicket keeper on 75 leaving 16 runs to win, which was achieved with eight overs to spare.

The second-string also picked up a victory against Hatfield. Graeme Ford and Rob French were on form with the bat, while Nainesh Shah and Dilip Shah starred with the ball to see Parkfield win by 62 runs.
