DIVISION ONE: Teddington 167-7 (10pts) beat Eastcote 164 (0pts) by three wickets

Eastcote took high flying Teddington to the wire for the second time this season but in the end a narrow defeat meant they have taken just one point from the last 40.

On the opening day of the campaign the Southill Lane club lost by an identical three-wicket margin in a rather more high-scoring encounter and this time Teddington again came out on top.

Teddington are now just one point off leaders Ealing while Eastcote have slithered down the table to lie just above the relegation zone.

Eastcote were asked to bat on a rather dry and used wicket and Tom Scollay took seven off Michael King's first over to give the hosts a fine start.

However, Paul Dancy, a constant thorn in Eastcote's side over the years, then bowled Jivan Lotay round his legs with his first ball.

King then turned destroyer, ripping the heart out of the Eastcote top five by sending back form men Scollay and captain Chris Coleman, who joined Phil Wise and Lotay in the pavilion at which point the home side was reeling on 15 for four.

Chris James, back from a mid-season break, stroked a spirited 38 full of high class drives to lead the Eastcote fight-back although two more quick wickets left Eastcote still in trouble at 56 for six.

Steffan James and Alan Coleman added another 40 before lunch without further damage and a fantastic partner-ship, epitomised by stonewall defence and sparkling stroke play took Eastcote to 143 before Alan Coleman (33) and James (47) both departed on the same total.

Harpal Sagoo, Paul Metcalfe and Mark Collier got the score to a competitive 164 all out in the 60th over to give their side something to defend.

Teddington came out positively with Elliot Hill (23) and ex-Northampton-shire professional Tobin Bailey taking on the opening attack of Alan Coleman and Metcalfe, until their partnership was broken by a marvellous, swirling Collier catch.

Metcalfe built up a head of steam from the pavilion end and quickly accounted for Ben Duncan and Mark Phythian in a fine spell of seam bowling, yet while wickets fell steadily, Bailey dug in to become the mainstay of the innings.

He reached 68 and only a corker from Collier finally ended his resistance and with the score at 112 for five the game was finely balanced. A rain interruption accounted for 10 overs and when the teams re-emerged Collier blasted two more batsmen out, but the fairytale ending was not to be because James Wade and Dancy saw Teddington home with two overs to spare.

DIVISION THREE: Uxbridge 135-6 (10pts) beat Harrow Town 134 (0pts) by four wickets

GARETH Stoneman staked a claim for a regular first team place by dismissing three top order batsmen as Uxbridge beat leaders Harrow Town by four wickets in a low-scoring game.

Steven Wright (1-27) picked up Gihan Herath (1-27) early on before Stoneman cleaned up fellow opener Victor Jadunath (7) and he followed that with the scalps of Navin Samarakoon (9) and Uzairuddin Mohamed (19).

Town werereeling at 36 for four, with Stoneman taking three for 42 from 12 overs, and while Michael Jadunath (31) and Abid Javed (38) dug in with a stand of 52, once they were separated by Andy Stephens (2-44), who then accounted for Tyron Theophile (10), the end was nigh.

Ryan Connor trapped Jadunath in front to reduce Harrow to 119 for seven and he raced through the lower order to claim the last three wickets for only one run, finishing with an impressive four for 21 from 10.3 overs.

Uxbridge had plenty of time to reach their target and they batted carefully following the loss of Andre Jason (8).

Nick Hardy (19), Parminder Mangat (23) and Riz Dar (30) continued that approach but Tony Stephens decided to attack and his 34 from 28 balls brought Uxbridge to within 10 of victory when he was caught, leaving Raj Singh and Connor to complete the job.

The win took Uxbridge up to second, six points behind Harrow Town. [25a0] The thirds narrowly missed out on victory against Harrow Town after the final wicket remained elusive.

After losing the toss Uxbridge also lost Sunny Sandhu (5) but Bryan Winson took them to 50 before he was bowled.

Zabi Maqsoodi went without scoring but Uxbridge recovered well with opener Tony Reely and Rob Darvill putting on 50 together before Reely was dismissed for an excellent 93.

Darvill and Richard Tinsley (30 not out) put on 78 before Darvill was stumped for 59 late in the innings and Simrit Mangat added some quick runs to enable Uxbridge to declare at 229 for six from 50 overs.

Winson gave Uxbridge the perfect start with two quick wickets and as the pressure built they were rewarded with two more wickets from Winson and one from Peter Parfitt.

Harrow slumped to 35 for five and they were never going to get near the Uxbridge score, but the hosts lacked the killer instinct to win the game despite two wickets from Swami Venkataraman and another for Winson, who ended with five for 33 from 21 overs.

Town escaped to save the game on 133 for nine with Uxbridge having to be content with a winning draw and four points, ahead of Saturday's trip to third-placed Kenton.

DIVISION THREE Ickenham 253-7dec (4pts) drew with Wycombe House 148-8 (1pt)

ICKENHAM had to be content with a winning draw as they extended their lead over fellow strugglers Wycombe House to 11 points.

Jamie Taylor scored a valuable 89, keeping Gurjit Sandhu (6-33) at bay to help the hosts amass 253 for seven after being put in to bat.

Ickenham had plenty of success in the field but Wycombe House, who currently occupy the second bottom spot just behind their Oak Avenue opponents, hung on to claim a point as they finished on 148 for eight.
