Enfield 3rds 131 Lost To Uxbridge 3rds 132 For 7 By Three Wickets

Uxbridge 3rd XI continued their good run of form in the Middlesex League with a three wicket win over Enfield on Saturday.

Enfield were put into bat after Uxbridge won the toss and immediately found themselves one wicket down when Will Spicer took a good catch at backward point from Peter Parfitt's bowling.

The visitor's started to recover from the early wicket loss but found themselves in more trouble when Parfitt struck again.

Debutant Mohsin Alam also bowled a good opening spell to put Uxbridge in control, with Enfield's run rate being less than two runs an over after 25 overs.

Bryan Winson (2-36 from 13 overs) came into the attack and from the pressure that was built up by Uxbridge from good bowling and fielding, they were rewarded with more wickets.

With Uxbridge well into the Enfield lower order, Mike Darvill was bought on for a change of pace and picked up a wicket after trapping the Enfield batsman LBW.

This led to openers Parfitt (3-23 from eight overs) and Alam (2-18 from 12 overs) to return and claim the final wickets as Enfield were bowled out for 131 in 46 overs.

In reply Uxbridge made hard work of the small total required to win the game and lost seven wickets.

Openers Tony Reely and Darvill got Uxbridge off to a reasonable start with a succesion of boundaries, before Darvill was bowled for eight.

Reely (26) and Maqsoodi (0) both followed in the same fashion shortly after and Uxbridge were at 60 for 3.

Rob Darvill and Bryan Winson then put on a partnership of 59 runs to take Uxbridge closer to the target, before Darvill fell LBW for 26.

Winson continued to bat well but fell one short of his half century when he was bowled.

This led to a second mini collapse as Tyrone Porter and Will Spicer both went cheaply before Richard Tinsley (6 not out) and Alam (12 not out) saw Uxbridge home for the 10 points.

Uxbridge remain in second place in the table and face local rivals Ickenham this coming Saturday in another must win match.
