A recently-conducted nationwide survey has revealed a comprehensive breakdown of children's pocket-money.

The information - which includes details on how much money kids in different parts of the country are receiving, what they're doing to earn it and what it is they're spending it on - was gathered by children's retailer The Entertainer who own the website TheToyShop.com .

From the data, we can glean for instance that children in Edinburgh are earning the highest amount with an average weekly total of £4.53. By contrast, children in Plymouth are earning an average of £3.30 less. Their weekly sum of £1.23 is the lowest in the UK.

While 27.8% of children don't have to lift a finger to earn their pocket money, others less fortunate are required to do tasks like washing the dishes, washing the car, preparing meals and, the most common activity, tidying their bedrooms.

As far as what it is their expenditure is going on, it turns out that some of the old classics simply refuse to go out of fashion with over 50% of children are still spending their money on Lego and silly putty!
