Remodelling your existing kitchen or putting in a new kitchen can certainly make life easier and more pleasant, especially for keen cooks. It can also be a major financial headache, especially as we're still in the grip of the credit crunch. Buying discounted kitchen appliances is one way to reduce costs.

Consider holding off on your kitchen remodelling plans until sale season. Many appliance retailers clear out their stores during the autumn to begin making room for their Christmas stock. If you schedule your new kitchen for the autumn months, you may be able to snap up some excellent deals as retailers race to shift their old inventory before the new goods come in. You can also find bargains on kitchen appliances during the January sales.

If you're adding more than one appliance to your new kitchen, look into the bundled deals offered by some retailers. You can often get a significant discount by purchasing two or more kitchen appliances together.

Look online for discount voucher codes and other deals. You can often find cut-price deals on the appliances you want as well as special deals on delivery and installation. For example, a recent special offer by electrical appliance retailer Currys offered deals on several popular items and free delivery for all appliances, including Currys cookers.

Check out the clearance section in your high street electrical retailer. Goods that have been reduced to clear are often in perfectly good shape -- they just happen to be last years' versions or the final few models in a line. Since there's often little change between one year's models and the next, you can often save a significant amount of money without losing out on quality. Good deals won't last forever, though, so be ready to grab them while they last. Don't forget to bring along the appropriate measurements when you're shopping so you can snap up a bargain as soon as you see it, rather than having to return home and check that it will fit in your new kitchen.

You might want your new shoes to be "box fresh" -- but does your cooker have to be, or your dishwasher? If you don't absolutely need your new appliance to arrive in its original packaging, consider buying a display model. This is an appliance that is completely unused but which has been displayed in the showroom, reducing its saleability and therefore its cost. Some display models may have a few small scratches or dents; this can actually count in your favour, knocking the price down still further without affecting the appliance's functionality in any way.

If you're replacing existing appliances, find out if any stores near you will offer cashback on your old white goods. Some retailers offer as much as £200 towards the cost of a new fridge if you give them your old one. As well as the savings on the cost of a new appliance, this can also rid you of the headaches involved in disposing of a large, bulky appliance.
