With the Olympics, the Jubilee, and Andy Murray’s emotional journey to the final match of Wimbledon, 2012 is proving a great year to celebrate all of the things we love about our floating isle. British bunting is lining every town street and village hall, and the Pimm’s is flowing freely. Luckily, even when summer is drawing to a close the festivities will be far from over, as we begin to look forward to a showcase of the best designer womenswear and menswear that Britain has to offer during London Fashion Week.

Paris Fashion Week has just drawn to a close, however the London based five-day event, commencing on the 14th September, is already generating huge amounts of excitement. London is frequently described as being one of the most fashionable places in the world and LFW will not only be a celebration of our capital’s unique sense of style, but of the British talent that create the looks that both Londoner’s and the rest of the world adore.

Currently, much of this excitement is thanks to the recent announcement that after a 6-year absence, West London based label Preen are choosing to show off their new pieces at LFW instead of at their previously favoured New York Fashion Week. It’s not just Preen that will be flying the flag for Britain come September either. They’ll be alongside a whole host of British born and British based designers, including ALICE by Temperley and Issa London, the label that provided Duchess Kate with her effortlessly stylish blue engagement dress.

It doesn’t stop there for reasons we should champion our British designers this September. Not only have they styled Royalty, but designers have also been using their skills in order to creatively raise money for deserving charities. Designers including MW Matthew Williamson and Julien Macdonald, have all designed t-shirts that will go on sale in order to raise money for Children in Need. Similarly Scottish born designer Jonathan Saunders, amongst others, has created a limited edition t-shirt in order to raise money for the Dispossessed Fund, who strive to tackle poverty in London.

With so many great British names to talk about, stockists of ladies designer clothes are, of course, equally excited to see the clothes that will be filling their racks in the near future. Chester based independent boutique, The Editeur, already provide a huge range of womens designer clothes and designer lingerie from British based designers, including Mimi Holliday, Farhi by Nicole Farhi, and Stella McCartney lingerie.
