Your new plastic £5 could be worth a small fortune if it contains a special engraving, the Bank of England has revealed.

Since the new note has come into circulation in October, lucky few have been cashing in on the plastic notes with a rare serial number.

The stakes have been upped however, as the Royal Mint announce it has stamped four notes with a rare tiny seal of a literary heroine.

The minuscule limited edition print of Jane Austen could make your fiver worth as much as a staggering £20,000.

Micro engraver Graham Short, from Birmingham, was commissioned to etch a microscopic image of Austen's portrait onto four of the new polymer notes.

Some Bank of England notes will also have a classic literary engraving of Emma, Pride and Prejudice and Mansfield Park, which are all novels written by the 18th century writer.

In October, it emerged a number of 50p coins could be worth a whopping £3,000 due to their unique designs.

Coin collectors can raid their collections to see if they could be holding onto one of 600 Olympic games original coin patterned with a swimmer's face on it.

Other rare 50p pieces which could be worth something include Peter Rabbit coins, WWF collector's edition, the EC commemorative coin and suffragette coins.
