Youngsters can unleash their wild side at a new outdoor play group for under-fives on Hounslow Heath.

The weekly sessions, run by Nature Links, are designed to help young children develop their skills while exploring the nature on their doorstep.

They will take place each Wednesday until March 23, from 10am to midday, and cost just £1 per family, including the use of protective trousers for the youngsters and drinks and snacks.

The 10-week programme, which began in January, is funded by a Near Neighbours Grant provided by the Government to foster relations between people of different and no faiths.

Nature Links is a social enterprise which works with Hounslow Council and here council’s parks contractor Carillon to provide outdoor play and learning opportunities for children across the borough.

Its Nature Neighbours Project on Hounslow Heath embraces the Forest School approach to more adventurous learning.

Project founder Heidi Magill said: "We are thrilled to have been awarded this grant. Nature Neighbours is the perfect opportunity for local families to make new friends, have a cup of tea together and enjoy the benefits of play in the great outdoors."
