A 15-year-old boy has been killed after being hit by a bus while riding a hoverboard in Alperton on Thursday (December 10).

Metropolitan Police confirmed that he was riding a self-propelled scooter at around 6.30pm and was hit by a bus in Glacier Way.

Brent councillor James Denselow tweeted: "Sad to hear about the death of a 15-year-old boy in Alperton last night who collided with a bus whilst riding a hoverboard."

A Met Police spokesman said: "Officers attended and a 15-year-old boy was found seriously injured at the location. He was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

"Next of kin have been informed.

"Whilst officers believe they know who the deceased is they await formal identification. A post-mortem examination will be scheduled in due course."

Hoverboards are one of the biggest Christmas must-have toys this year, but have proved controversial due to concerns over their safety .
