Police investigating the murder of Harjit Singh Dulai in Hayes have arrested a 16-year-old boy.

According to Metropolitan Police , the boy, who can't be named for legal reasons, was arrested on Sunday (January 31) on suspicion of murder and is currently in custody at a southwest London police station.

A murder investigation was launched after police were called at around 6.40pm on Wednesday (January 27) by the London Ambulance Service (LAS) to reports of a man stabbed by the tennis courts in Rosedale Park, off Albion Road, Hayes .

Officers attended and the 44-year-old man was taken by LAS to a central London hospital, where he was pronounced dead at around 8.30pm.

A post-mortem examination took place at Uxbridge Mortuary on January 29 and gave the cause of death as a stab wound .

Five men have also been arrested on suspicion of murder as part of the investigation. Four men aged 20, 19, 28 and a man aged in his 40s have been bailed pending further enquiries to a date in late February.

A fifth man aged 39 was released by police with no further action.

DCI Noel McHugh of the Homicide and Major Crime Command who is leading the investigation, said: "Our investigation into Harjit's murder continues at pace and I would reiterate my appeal to anyone with information to contact my officers.

"If you were in Rosedale Park or Albion Road around 6:40pm on Wednesday, January 27 and noticed anyone cutting through the area which runs between the rear of the pavilion and Albion Road, then please call police.

"There are people who will know exactly what happened to Harjit and I would urge those who have information to come forward. Any information provided will be dealt with discretely and sensitively."
