A young man who was hit by a police car in Isleworth remains in hospital following the crash on Tuesday (September 27) afternoon, but his injuries are not thought to be critical.

The man who is in his 20s was hit by an unmarked police car in London Road, close to West Thames College, at around 3.30pm.

Police said the car is believed to have been responding to an emergency call at the time of the collision, near to the junction with Harvard Road, and had its siren blaring and blue lights flashing.

A Met spokesman said on Wednesday (September 28) morning that the young man remained in hospital but his injuries were not believed to be "life-threatening or life-changing".

He added that police had spoken to the man's family, and he said the collision had been referred to the Met's Directorate of Professional Standards as is routine with such incidents.

The road was taped off for some time following the collision as police investigated.

Second serious crash involving police vehicle on same road

This is the second time in less than 12 months that a police vehicle has hit a pedestrian on the same road in Isleworth.

In December last year, a 35-year-old man died after being hit by a police van headed to a 999 call in Brentford.
