An aspiring young singer and actress from Feltham juggling her studies with starring in a musical is celebrating hitting all the right notes in her music exam.

Lissy Mant was over the moon to learn she had scored 95% in her Grade 3 musical theatre singing exam, just after wrapping up a 12-month UK tour of the musical Annie in which she played orphan Tessie alongside well-known stars such as Leslie Joseph, Jodie Prenger and Craig Revel Horwood.

The 12-year-old school pupil at Rivers Academy in Feltham, also studies pop vocals and musical theatre at Surrey Singing School in nearby Sunbury.

Lissy, who lives with her family in Bedfont Lane, and did about 125 performances of Annie said: “Being away from home and doing something new was difficult at first but it was just such a great opportunity and the other girls in my team were brilliant.

"We called each other sisters so it was really good and I loved every minute of it.

“I remember seeing Leslie Joseph on stage the first time and then acting alongside her.

“Then we saw her on TV the next day and it was like ‘wow, I know her, I have been on stage with her and she is really, really nice’.”

Lissy is looking forward to starting Year 8 at school in September and will continue to attend her weekend classes in Sunbury, ready and waiting for her next opportunity.

Mum Samantha Mant, added: “I am so proud of Lissy, the talent she has and what she has achieved already.

“But one of the nicest things about her is that she is just so modest and grounded and she doesn’t go around telling people what she is doing – she is just a normal girl.”
